Due to poor weather conditions in the mountains our backpacking activity will not include overnight camping. Rain and lightening are expected Saturday night and Sunday so the activity will be a DAY HIKE ONLY.

Scouts & scouters are expected to arrive at the church at 6am with the following gear:  outdoor essentials, lunch, water, and snacks.

The same trail will be hiked (Noble Canyon Trails) but it will be as a day hike only.  Scouts will arrive back at the church Saturday late afternoon/early evening in advance of the bad weather.

This hike is open to all scouts even if they did not sign up in advance.  Drivers may be needed.  Contact Steve Kakacek or John Callan for driving information.

Webelos Woods will be held this weekend, Dec 7th -9th.  It is not too late to sign up to go. The permission slips were available at the Troop meeting last night and are now available on the Troop website

There will be a Court of Honor next week on Monday, Dec10th which will include a family potluck dinner and scout gift exchange game.  Please click here for details.

Summer camp spots are being reserved right now.  Total cost for camp at Catalina Island is $515.  The recommended camp payment schedule has been determined as follows:

First pmt due Jan 7th - $300

Second pmt due Feb 25th - $115

Third pmt due March 17th - $100

Please make initial pmt of some sort immediately to hold your spot.  We have 22 youth spots total at this time.   7 of those spots are already reserved, leaving 15 spots open at this time.  We want to be sure everyone interested in attending has the opportunity, however, our Troop finances cannot bear the burden of holding spots open.  If we know we need more spots, we may be able to get them as we send in our big January pmt to the camp.  Please make your camp plans soon!  Our reservation has been confirmed for July 27th, 2008.  Questions??? Give Mrs. Perfect a call or drop her an e-mail.

Due to hazardous conditions expected in the mountain areas this weekend,we must cancel our campout.  Flash floods are expected on the trail we were planning to hike. Major rain, mud slides and freezing temperatures are forecast.  One of the parts of our training includes knowing when it is safe to conduct certain types of activities. This weekend is most likely not safe for backpacking. In an effort to provide fun and safe activities, we must cancel this one. Sorry for any disappointment. Be sure to make it to the next activity, the Plaster Blaster, coming up the first weekend of October

Mrs. Perfect has the following information to pass along.

Community Clean-up Day-November 10th

The annual Ramona Community Clean Up day for 2007 will be held on Saturday, November 10th in the morning.  The event has a new sponsor this year!  We can thank our own Ramona Kiwanis club for hosting the event.  The Kiwanis club would really appreciate the hand-on assistance of all of our local scouts & scouters as well as other community residents. Units are encouraged to add this to their calendars and make this high visibility community service event a priority.  This in an excellent way for us to give back to the community that is so supportive of all of our activities!  Please set this up at the troop, pack, den, or individual level.  No help will be turned away from this very traditional type of service activity.  Service hours may be awarded to scouts participating but the real pay off is how great our town looks when we’re done!  Look for more information coming up in the Ramona Sentinel or call Dawn Perfect, Activities & Civic Service Chair, 788-1983.

Boy Scout Open House

All Webelos are invited to attend Troop 768’s Annual Open House on Monday October 22nd at 6:30pm.  This open house has earned quite a reputation as a good sampling of what Boy Scouts has to offer to those Webelos transitioning into Boy Scouts.  This won’t just be a meeting…it will be an EXPERIENCE!  This event is hosted by the youth leaders of Troop 768 and will include actual demonstrations of scout skills.  Troop Committee members will be on hand to provide support to the youth leadership and informational hand-outs and annual calendar of events will be available.  For more information and to RSVP, contact Dawn Perfect, 788-1983

A message from Jakki Leap:  A lot of fun events are coming up!  This Monday, June 11th is a Court of Honor.  This is a potluck event, so bring a dish to share and your appetites.  Troop will provide paper goods and dessert.  It is important for parents to come to this event to pick up summer camp packet.

Speaking of summer camp, a couple of things.  Please be sure your scout is fully paid up on summer camp fees total cost is $395.  Be sure Troop has an up to date copy of your scouts physical form.  Forms can be downloaded from Council web site.  Add a copy of your scouts medical insurance card.  Additional drivers will be needed, one or both ways.

July 4th is a very fun day for our troop.  Scouts and parents are needed, so look for a sign up sheet at the Court of Honor and please sign up or show up on that day behind the High School to help out.  It is fun to see the folks in our community and help the troop at the same time.

Memorial Day was a big success.  First of all  a special "Thank You" to the scouts who stayed at the Church for the full service.  The Pastor of the Church really appreciates it.  The VFW was very happy with the Troops involvement at the cemetery.  A lot of service hours were earned by the scouts.

Events to put on your calendar and watch for more info- on June 23rd a rock climbing day at Solid Rock, and an annual planning meeting currently scheduled for August 1st.

Thanks to all the parents who help out.  One more thing, please be sure your scout dues are paid up, $26 a year.

A message from Jakki Leap:  HI Scout Parents,

I hope you all received the emailed permission slip for the next troop outing to Lake Dixon.  If you didn't, it should be on the Troop Web site (Check the Forms Section).  I should be a fun camp-out.  Filled out permission slips and monies are due at the next meetings.  Thanks to all the parents who help out on the troop outings and set a good example for the scouts.  Just a reminder, all drivers on outings should arrive at the Church on time- ready to load up and leave.  Please try to gas-up and get food before hand.

Next troop Court of Honor is June 11th.  It is the last chance for scouts to be recognized for rank advancements before summer camp.

Speaking of summer camp, final payments should be made soon.  Scout and adult physical forms need to be updated.  Every two years for scouts and every year for anyone over 40.  See attached download.   Look for a summer camp packet to be coming home soon.  If you don't get one from your scout ask John Callen. It is a good idea to start talking to your scout about what merit badges he wants to work on.  Try to include two Eagle required.  All scouts attending should have consistent meeting attendance in the weeks and months prior to summer camp.

Memorial Day is coming up and our troop is really involved.  A final calendar of times will be sent up but it will look something like this.  Friday May 25th put poppies on Veterans graves at Nuevo Gardens Cemetery,  Sunday May 27th a Color Guard is needed at the church to open Sunday services scouts should stay for the service and get 2 service hours credit, Monday morning the 28th is the cemetery ceremony.  That afternoon scouts and parents are invited to the VFW for a barbeque.  No charge but cash donations are accepted.  Scouts should be in class A uniforms, and be model scouts while there and be mindful of helping out if something needs to be done.

The Pacific Crest District Dinner is coming up.  It will be June 1st at the First Congregational Church, 6:00.  All families are welcome.  It is a no charge potluck, paper goods and dessert provided.  Please come and honor your troop leaders as the receive recognition for outstanding service.

Don't forget to set aside the afternoon of July 4th,  Come help celebrate our country by helping out in the troop booth behind  Ramona High School, during the July 4th festival. This is a really fun event for parents and scouts, and is the troops biggest fund-raiser.

Speaking of funds, scouts dues are $26 a year.  Please make sure your scout is paid up.  Make checks out to the troop and get to one of the trop adults.  Write in memo portion "Dues".

Look for a PLC schedule to come home with your scout to cover the remainder of the year.  Next PLC is May 23rd 7:00 at Dawn Perfects.

A message from Jakki Leap:       Thanks to all the parents and scouts who contributed to the dessert auction.  $260 was earned for the Troop.  It was really a lot of fun.

Lots of scouts attended the Camporee at Mataguay.  T768 scouts cheerfully helped out with the service project and earned 3 hours of service for rank advancements.  As usual, the range sports were a big success.

Just a quick update, payments for summer camp are due.  If your scout is attending summer camp please get money to Joe Resko.  Total cost of camp is $395.  Scouts looking to make rank before summer camp should set their sights on the June Court of Honor.

May outing is fishing and camping at Dixon Lake.  Fishing licenses are required for anyone 16 and older. Approximate cost is $7.50 per day for the license.
